Drawn to true scale.
Picture this
Roughly the height of a 45-storey building — the Great Pyramid stood as the tallest human structure for nearly four thousand years.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is mainstream-dated to roughly 2560 BCE as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu. The engineering — 2.3 million blocks, near-perfect cardinal alignment, internal galleries cut to millimetre tolerances — keeps inviting alternative theories about its purpose. Most are speculative; the construction itself, though, is undeniably real.
Did you know?
The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. Every other has fallen, burned, or been lost.
